Too fast

I never imagined I'd become to kind of mom that says ...'she's growing up too fast!'..... but I totally am. The changes that are taking place at this point in her development are rapid and constant. It's the most incredible thing to witness first hand. Round 1 of our household 'Nevi-proofing' took place several weeks ago and now we're onto Round 2. She can officially get into anything/everything now and has taken a particular interest in Dylan's food and water bowls. Her most independent form of mobility is her 'army style' crawling - still not totally up on her hands and knees yet but scooting places on her elbows, belly and legs. Her favorite thing to do however, is to walk. She reaches for your hands, lifts herself to a standing position and off she goes gripping your fingers with her life and marching with all her might. I've gotta say that I already admire the person that Nevi is becoming. She's outgoing, strong, she loves to laugh, she doesn't scream and cry when she falls but rather gets right back up and keeps on truckin', she has a definite sense of independence, and when she's feeling extremely tired or frustrated a hug tends to solve the problem. Easy enough. Also, Nevi is not afraid of strangers (yet?) but stares long and hard at new people who are holding her, absorbing every angle and facet of the new experience.
About the picture of Nevi with the bucket over her face, Robb said that one day this week while I was at work, she held that bucket there for a LONG time, somehow fascinated by the darkness and resonance. He got a real kick out of it. We'll draw the line with plastic bags, we promise.

Denver Aquarium

We ate lunch with the fish (and shark!). Very good food and atmosphere! Nevi would look in amazement through the glass at the fish swimming around ~ and I think the adults liked it just as much! Definitely something we'll do again ~ soon.

Grandma Pat visit

Quite different weather from Nana and PopPop's visit, it was sunny and 70s while Grandma Pat was here. We spent most of our visit outside, enjoying the glorious fall weather. We visited a small, local pumpkin patch and made our way to Rocky Mountain National Park to hear the elks bugle (AMAZING!). There were herds everywhere! The three girls hiked 'Fern Trail' for an hour and a half and ended up singing camp songs on the last leg of the hike, out of sheer exhaustion and bliss.
We also strolled Pearl Street one evening, drinking hot tea and window shopping. That night, there was a CU pep rally going on so Nevi got to hear her first marching band drum corp. Very cool.

Nana and Pop Pop visit

Though the weather didn't cooperate (C-O-L-D!), we had a wonderful visit with Nana and Pop Pop this weekend. Lots of hugs, laughs, playtime but mostly LOTS OF LOVE!!! It was awesome as a parent to see her make a connection with her grandparents and very cool to watch her learn things from them. Having her understand that there is more than one way of doing things is an important skill that is worth nurturing. I caught her staring at Nana many times, just watching how she talks, moves and does things like diaper changes. She actually lifts her head up from the changing table to watch! She LOVED Pop Pop's glasses and pocket pen. Anything she can reach, she'll grab up and claim as her own! The world is her school! Thanks Nana and Pop Pop for all of your generosity and for loving Nevi so much...

Pepper & Corn

Our friend, Jeannette, who lives close by and has a little boy (Teddy) only 3 weeks younger than Nevi, was gifted these sweet little autumn outfits... Nevi is a chili pepper and Teddy is obviously an ear of corn. These two munchkins could not be more different, not only in size but in personality. But I suppose opposites attract because they are always holding hands and staring into each others eyes. It's quite adorable. Nevi was a little too big for her costume so you'll see her one leg sticking out the side. This made us laugh until we almost wet ourselves.... Teddy is pretty underweight, on the opposite spectrum so his petite little legs fit right inside his mermaid outfit. What a fun day yesterday was! Happy Autumn everyone!

(almost) 7 months!!!

We had to boast this adorable fleece jammy given to us for Christmas last year by my Aunt Lynn. It is the softest and coziest thing we have and now that the fall weather is here, we couldn't be happier to have it. Oh yeah, and now she's started clapping her hands!!! SO proud!!!!!
